We women pride ourselves on our ability to multitask.
Do you agree?
Well this mornings multitasking effort consisted of only two jobs.
One was having a conversation on the phone whilst on it was on speaker, the other was drinking my cup of coffee.
As I finish my cup of coffee I walked to the sink, put my phone down on the bench, and continued to chat into my empty coffee cup as I walked out of the kitchen. Hmmmm I wondered why they did not answer me.
Hello brain fog, ovary brain, menopausal brain.
Do you experience forgetful moments? Well you are not alone.
So in the last two blogs we’ve talked about the symptoms of menopause.
As I have mentioned the symptoms menopause are different for each and every woman and can include anything from night sweats, to weight gain to thinning hair, but as I’ve gone through today, many women also report feeling forgetful or having a general brain fog that makes it hard for them to concentrate.
Example number two. I’m sharing just to let you know you’re not the only one. This happened a couple weeks ago. I just FORGOT to share ha ha
Starting work at 6.30am (yes seriously) until 9.30am. At 9:45am I hop in my car to head home, this is all of 5 minutes away. At 10am I’m still happily driving, but where?
I found myself about 5 km past my scheduled destination, driving along the stunning Mornington Peninsula esplanade to an unknown destination.
Another case of brain fog and as I said it’s quite common amongst us peri menopausal girls. Researchers say that some 60% of middle age women report difficulty concentrating and other issues with cognition. This can tend to spike a little bit more for women who are perimenopausal. I will add that my personal opinion is , we are mums with busy lifestyles, you possibly work, you probably have Children, you’re doing housework, you’re thinking about what to have for dinner tonight, you have to make time to get to the shops, it’s grandma’s birthday on the weekend, with all that’s going on in our brains is it any wonder that we get a bit foggy at times. My personal though opinion ha ha. Back to the real story menopausal brain fog
What causes the foggy thinking, it’s to do with hormone changes.
Your sleep quality may add to the brain fog and sleep problems is one of the symptoms of menopause or hormonal imbalance
Did you know one of the most common underlying denominators with all women and hormone imbalance is stress so take some time out relax.
Have you ever tried meditation?
Take 5 to 30 minutes a day and sit outside in the sunshine (Vit D is so good for you ) close your eyes and just listen to what is going on around you. Try not to think about anything and just RELAX & BREATHE
Try a Yoga or Pilates class. Did you know these modes of exercise also train your brain as well as your body? It improves your memory, makes you smarter, and if you bring along the boys maybe they can learn to multitask. 😂😂😂
